experience EMDR therapy
I am EMDR trained and I provide this powerful, life-changing protocol to my
clients when appropriate. EMDR therapy can be as successful when conducted online as it is in the office setting.
What is EMDR therapy? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based, simple, and efficient modality of therapy. It uses bilateral stimulation (BLS) in the form of eye movements, tactile hand pulses, or auditory tones to accelerate the brain's capacity to reprocess and heal disturbing memories, negative cognitions, blocking beliefs, and more. BLS, which occurs naturally during dream sleep, causes the two halves of the brain to work together and reintegrate disturbing memories. Some clients experience positive results or relief in just a few sessions, while others may require numerous sessions. EMDR therapy is effective in alleviating trauma-related symptoms, whether the physical or psychological trauma occurred many years ago or a week ago. It provides desired results with little talking, without medication, and with no heavy “homework” between sessions.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized EMDR therapy as a first-choice for the treatment of acute
and complex PTSD. In addition, it is effective for treating phobias; panic attacks; anxiety disorders; disturbing memories; complicated grief; addictions; low self-worth; negative core beliefs; guilt; shame, and more.
